Teachers and those with QTS wanting to book on this course should have the commitment from the HT that as PE lead you will be able to:

  • Feedback workshop headlines and action plan with your SLT.
  • Carry out lesson observations as part of your subject leader role.
  • Present your action plan to the governing body.

This course is a degree level qualification and there is a requirement for tasks to be completed, some of which will be in between contact days.

This one day workshop (divided into two half days), developed by AfPE, will provide you with the knowledge and skills to deliver and lead outstanding PE in your school.

This workshop support you with you subject leadership and will involve leading, monitoring, planning and evaluating the implementation of high quality PESSPA
Session 1 (half day) Session 2 (half day)
  • Role of the PE subject leader
  • How to monitor PESSPA
  • Evaluating the quality of curriculum and assessment and teaching and learning in your own school
  • Involving and gathering evidence from stakeholders
  • Conducting a PE ‘position statement’
  • Audit the school workforce attitudes and behaviours towards PE
  • Action plan
  • The Principles of change management relevant to primary school PE
  • Draw up a SMART plan to bring about improvement
  • How to lead and manage the implementation of PESSPA targeted strategy over a minimum of one term
  • Present the strategy to the senior management team and other relevant stakeholders and have this signed off as part of your PESSPA evidence
