The PE & Sports Hub is an approved Professional Learning Centre and a market leader in providing the Association for Physical Education and Leadership Skills Foundation courses.  The centre received national recognition from the Association for Physical Education in becoming the ‘Learning Centre of the Year’ in 2019.

OUR COURSE LEADERS

Steve Busby BEd (Hons) and NPQH

Steve has many years experience at teaching and leadership level in education in Manchester and Trafford having specialised in Primary Physical Education in Liverpool. Previously, Steve led the boys’ PE department at high school in Manchester for four years after which he switched to primary, working his way up to be Head teacher for 10 years at Navigation Primary School in Altrincham. Steve has coordinated PE at all of the five primary schools he has worked in and he continues to lead PE 3 days a week at a Trafford primary school where he teaches PE across the whole school. Steve has been a director at The PE & Sports Hub for 8 years. He leads the Leadership Skills Foundation and AfPE’s Level 4, 5 and 6 courses in primary PE. He has also been a trainer for YST, and SLE for MTSA and TTSA.

Nick Furness BEd (Hons)

Nick has many years experience teaching having specialised in Primary Physical Education. He has coordinated PE at both primary schools he has worked in and led training across the borough in numerous initiatives. More recently, he now works alongside teachers and schools in South Manchester helping deliver and develop their PE curriculum inside and outside of the classroom.

Supporting Pupils’ Wellbeing Through Physical Education

The Level 4 Qualification in Supporting Pupils’ Wellbeing Through Physical Education is a nationally recognised qualification that enables delegates to become specialists in supporting the emotional and social wellbeing of pupils through physical education. This qualification is open to both primary and secondary school teachers with QTS involved in the teaching of physical education.

Primary Physical Education Specialism

This is a recognised qualification that aims to upskill primary school teachers and higher level teaching assistants and experience NGB qualified coaches to improve the overall delivery of the physical education curriculum within primary schools. On successful completion of this qualification, delegates will be able to assist in raising the standards within primary school physical education teaching and learning.

PE Subject Leadership

This nationally recognised qualification will support you to improve the overall leadership and management of the delivery of the physical education curriculum within you primary school. The aim of this qualification is to enable subject leaders to support and upskill other colleagues in teaching the physical education curriculum. On successful completion of this qualification, delegates will be able to advocate, articulate and lead physical education to achieve whole school improvement.
